Casio VL-1 Demonstration and Walkthrough
This was created using the famous Electronic Musical Instrument and Calculator of the 1980s. Use as an already completely configured instrument rack inside of Ableton Live or use the samples, which contain every note of every preset, in your DAW of choice. The Ableton rack comes as an instrument rack containing all 6 factory presets (Piano, Fantasy, Violin, Flute, Guitar, Percussion), that are selectable via a Macro knob on the instrument rack. Effects not possible on the original are included, such as Lo Pass Filter (the frequency of which can be modified by an LFO) , Delay, Chorus, Tremolo, and Arpeggiator. Unlike the original this instrument operators polyphonically, opening up new doors of lofi goodness. Also, included are individual Ableton racks for each of the 6 presets (Piano, Fantasy, Violin, Flute, Guitar, Percussion). Instead of a preset selector, these racks come with a Reverb control. This download includes 7 racks in total. Ableton Racks made with Sampler add-on instrument, but also contain identical versions made with Simpler. (Download link will be delivered via email).
Casio RapMan Demonstration and Walkthrough
The RapMan is one instrument that is clearly a product of its times. Realizing that Rap music was not going to be a fad, companies began making attempts to capitalize on this new genre of music the kids are listening to, and the RapMan is one of those products. Needless to say, there is some nice lo-fi charm to this piece of equipment. So, I sampled 21 sounds on the RapMan and all of the built in Rap beats, which beg to be mangled, chopped, and pitch shifted into new pieces of music. The download includes 22 Ableton Live Racks, 21 separate RapMan presets; an Ableton Rack that includes all 21 sounds, which are selectable from a preset macro knob; as well as 24 preprogrammed rhythms included with the RapMan. The download includes 2 Live sets, one with Sampler versions of the racks and one with Simpler versions of the racks. Effects have been added to each sound, which allows you to take these tones into new areas impossible with the original piece of gear. Check it out and get your retro, lo-fi sounds on.
